Summary: After EOTW the Senior class of West Roswell High is going on a trip to Florida. Will Max and Liz find the way back to each others hearts? Or will Liz meet someone else?
A/N: After seeing Liz and Kyle in bed together, Max went to talk to Tess to make sure she understands that he is not interested in her and she decided to back off for a while. She won't join the others to Florida


Chapter 1

"This is going to be so much fun Chica!", said Maria Deluca while helping Liz Parker pack her stuff.

In a few hours they would be leaving on a holiday to Florida with the entire senior class and Maria was more than excited!

"I don't know...," Liz says, "with everything that has happened between Max and me lately..."

"Don’t worry, I'll be right by your side! Besides, I doubt there'll be any problems since that little bitch from hell won't be tagging along."

"Yeah, I sure hope so. Thanks Maria!"

"Hey, that's what best friends are for, right? Now come on", she said while closing Liz's suitcase, "we wouldn't wanna miss our flight, now would we?"

Liz follows Maria downstairs, and while her best friend is loading the suitcases in the Jetta, Liz says goodbye to her parents.

"Promise you'll be careful?"

"Yes dad, no need to worry! I'm a big girl now!"

"We know honey. Just make sure you have fun"

"I will mom, I'll see you in a week! Love you!"

After saying goodbye to her parents, both girls leave for the airport. Hearing Marias enthusiastic babbling about everything she wants to do in Florida, Liz decides that this trip, might not be so bad after all. All she had to do was find a way to avoid Max and everything would be fine!

Arriving at the airport they pull into the parking lot. Seeing the familiar jeep, Liz sighs inwardly.

Well, here goes nothing, she thinks. "Too bad that Alex is still in Sweden. It would've been so cool to have him here too."

"I know chica. But think about it this way. At least now we have more time to pick up some cute guys!"

"Maria! What about Michael?"

"He broke up with me. Remember? I'm a free woman and so are you by the way. I'm sure we can find some cute guys who would be more than willing to spend some time with us."

"You're unbelievable, you know that?"

"I know... And that's why you adore me!"

"Yeah, whatever," Liz laughs, while taking out her suitcase of the trunk.

Walking up to the rest of the senior class, Maria spots the entire Pod Squad glaring at them. Now this is gonna be fun she thought...

Boarding the plane and finding their seats, both Liz and Maria are relieved to see that they aren’t seated near their significant others.

Max, Michael and Isabel were more than glad to be seated together. Max didn't think he could handle sitting near Liz after seeing her in bed with Kyle a few weeks ago. Michael didn't want to hear Maria's constant babbling and Isabel saw it as her duty to not speak to the girls after having broken the boys' hearts.

Even now, weeks after seeing Kyle and Liz together, Max was still hurting. He just couldn't understand why Liz would just go and sleep with Kyle. And he couldn't help but think, that for some reason Liz didn't seem surprised to see him at her window. It's like she new I was coming and wanted me to see them together. But why would she do something like that to me?

"Maxwell! Snap out of it," Michael said, "You're not gonna be brooding this entire trip are you?"

"Just leave it Michael"

Understanding that he really did NOT want to talk, Michael decided to let it rest, at least for a while.


*** At the hotel ***

When the bus that had picked them up at the airport, pulled up they were all in awe.

"Oh my god, this is so amazing!!" Maria squeeled!

Everybody took their bags and after having settled in the hotel, Liz decided to go for a walk in the garden while Maria took a bath. Little did she know, that Max had the same idea.

Max was so caught up thinking, that he nearly knocked over another person. He just caught her before she could fall.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I wasn't... Liz", he said when he saw who he was holding in his arms.

"Max, I'm sorry. I guess I wasn't really paying any attention"

"Uhm, that's okay". He looked down and realised just at that moment that he was still holding Liz and quickly let go.
"I, uhm, I better go. I think Michael might be looking for me."
Max turned around and started making his way back to the hotel.

"Max, wait."

He stopped and slowly turned around to face her with a questioning look.

"Do you think we could talk? Just a minute?"

"Liz..."

"Uhm... No. Never mind. You should go. Michael might be looking for you, as you said. And I'm sure Maria is waiting too... So, I'll just see you around."

And with that she turned around and entered the hotel. Leaving Max behind wondering what she wanted to tell him.

"Liz!! Get your cute butt in here!"

"What is it Maria?"

"Remember how we were going to have the time of our life? You know... Hooking up with some guys and everything?"

"Why do I get the feeling I'm not gonna like what you're about to tell me?"

"We got dates tonight", Maria blurted out.

"What!? Maria... We haven't even been here for a day and you already got us dates?"

"Well..."

"Maria. One word: NO"

"Oh come on Liz! Please? It wouldn't be any fun without you. And besides... You can't keep on brooding over Max, right? This is an excellent opportunity to go out, have fun and forget everything that's happened the last couple of weeks!"

"Maria..."

Sensing that she was about to give in, Maria added a little more.

"You're not gonna let me go out all by myself with two complete strangers? Now are you?" She smiled inwardly, knowing that Liz just couldn't say no anymore.

"You're unbelievable. You know that?"

"You keep saying that. But that's why you adore me"

"I'm just wondering, how the hell did you manage to get us dates so fast?"

Chapter 2

After Liz and Maria spent most of the afternoon shopping at a nearby mall, it was time to get ready for their date. Apparantly, Maria met their dates at the bar looking for Liz. Both of them were students at the Florida State University. Sam, Marias date, was majoring in law and while Lucas, Liz's date for the night, was majoring in Biology. A perfect match according to Maria. But if Liz thought so too...?

"I'm still not sure about this Maria"

"You look hot chica! Don't worry"

"Not the outfit. The dates"

"We're not going over this again. We're going!"

"But..."

"No, we're not discussing this again. Now shut up and tell me how I look"

"You look hot"

Maria was wearing a short dark green dress with spaghetti straps and black stiletto’s. Her hair was down in loose curls and she put on some golden coloured make up. In other words, she was dressed to kill!

“How about me?” Liz asked?

She was wearing a red dress with spaghetti straps that went just above her knee. Her black pumps were going to hurt like hell on her feet, but it definitely completed the outfit. She wore her hair in loose curls that fell around her shoulders and her make up was pretty dark.

“Lucas won’t know what hit him! You look amazing girl!! Come on now, it's time to go downstairs. I told them we would meet them in the lobby."

Just as they were closing their door, the door next to theirs opened.

"Just our luck", Maria mumbled under her breath as Max, Michael and Isabel exited the room.

"Going somewhere?", Michael asked while looking them over.

"As a matter of fact, we are. And if you don't mind, I believe our dates are waiting."

"D-Dates?", Max managed to bring out.

"Yes dates," Liz replied, "And as Maria said, we're already late as it is so..."

"Sure... Euhm... Have fun"

"We will" WIth that Maria ended the conversation and they went downstairs... Ready to meet Lucas and Sam.

Chapter 3

Max was stunned into silence. He just couldn’t believe that Liz was going out on a date the first night of their senior trip. Neither could he understand how she had managed to find a date so fast.

*I guess she’s really desperate to get me out of the picture.*, he thought.

He turned back to Michael and Isabel. Michael looked stricken about the fact that Maria was obviously moving on without him. Isabel, worrying and feeling sorry for her brothers spoke up.

“Let’s go get something to eat downstairs. After all… That was the plan wasn’t it?”

“Yeah, sure,” answered Michael, “let’s go. I’m starved.”

The trio made their way downstairs. When they descended the last flight of stairs and rounded the corner, Isabel felt like hitting her head against the nearest wall for her own stupidity. How could she not have thought about the fact that Liz and Maria were probably going to meet their dates in the incoming hall.

All three of them gasped when Liz let out a squeal and jumped around the neck of one of the guys. She hugged him close to her and started talking softly to him. When she pulled back she had a huge smile on her face and started pulling him outside. Turning around to a stunned Maria and telling her and her date to follow them.

Max felt his heart break in a million pieces. Obviously she wasn’t trying to get him out of the picture, if he had to believe what he just saw… Than that would mean that he already was of out the picture. All appetite now gone, he turned around to Michael and Isabel.

“I’m not that hungry anymore. I’m just going to go back up and get some sleep. It’s late.”

“Max…” Isabel tried.

“Please Isabel… Whatever you… Don’t. Please just don’t.”

At that he walked out and went back up the stairs to his room. He went inside and lied down on his bed. With one arm behind his head he stared up at the ceiling. Reliving in his mind, every single moment he and Liz had shared together.

Liz still had her doubts about the date that Maria had set up for them. But she felt it was too late to back out now. Coming down the stairs, she had never expected to see the sight that met her. When Maria had mentioned that her date’s name was Lucas and his friend was named Sam, she had never thought that the guys they would be meeting were… Well… Lucas and Sam.
The same Lucas and Sam that she befriended years ago in Florida. Actually… She did a bit more than just befriend Lucas. He was her first love. A summerlove. One that she still kept in touch with and had never forgotten.

“Oh my God!!!! Lucas!” she squealed. She ran down the last couple of stairs and jumped in his outstretched arms.

“I can’t believe this. What are you doing here?” she murmured in his ear.

She took a step back to get a better look at him. He was still as handsome as ever, even more so! He took her breath away.

“Taking you out on a date obviously. You look absolutely beautiful.”

“And you’re still a charmer,” she answered laughingly. She turned around towards Maria.

“Come on Ria, let’s go!” She pulled Lucas out of the hotel and they started talking animatedly. Both thanking whoever was responsible for them meeting again like this.
